Members of the University of Buea Council have adopted a budget of over eight billion to run the institution’s activities for 2021.
The budget which stands at eight billion, nine hundred and ten million, two hundred and thirty-nine thousand, four hundred and twenty–three FCFA was adopted during the 38th Meeting of the Council on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

He further praised the University’s initiative in organising an intensive English language programme for the newly recruited academic staff whose first language is not English. Prof Ako urged UB’s hierarchy to ensure that the turnout for the programme is huge.
The pro chancellor equally endorsed UB’s recommendation to create a Division of Legal Affairs. Members of the division are to guide officials in the University of Buea on legal matters especially issues related to land disputes.
He further thanked the Government for taking measures to safeguard the University’s land which is essential for the implementation of the institution’s activities.
Regarding this year’s convocation, it still remains uncertain if the graduation will take place this December especially as the institution is silent on the issue. Many outgoing final year students are in the dark. One of the parents commented on UB’s Facebook page asking UB’s officials to give an official statement as to whether there would be graduation this year. “Parents are still waiting for an official statement from the Vice Chancellor if the Graduation ceremony will take place or not, our Children went through threats and other difficulties to complete their study which is worth celebrating. If UB will or not have a Convocation ceremony it should be made known,” He said.
The institution is yet to comment on the issue.
The University of Buea is an Anglo Saxon institution found in the south West Region of the republic of Cameroon.
