The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Célestine Ketcha Courtè has launched a Regional clean up campaign competition in Douala.
The campaign was launched on Thursday December 17 at the Douala City Council Hall.
According to the Minister, the aim of the competition is to promote hygiene and sanitation as well to positively transform the behaviour towards the sustainable development of the country.
Highlighted criteria for the award constitute cleanliness, hygiene, embellishment, waste management, mobilization of local population, amongst others. The frontier of the competition was extended to municipalities in other regions.
The launching of the competition is part of Cameroon’s preparatory measures ahead of the celebration of the 2021 United Nations’ World Habitat Day that is annually celebrated on the first Monday of October to reflect on the state of human settlements and people’s right to sufficient shelter. Nationally, this year’s celebration will take place in Limbe, Divisional Headquarter of Fako Division.
