In the morning of December 6, a fire broke out at St Joseph college Sasse, reducing one of their dormitories to ashes.

Hours later, the principal of the institution, Rev. Fr. Armstrong Ndi issued a release stating that no human casualty has been recorded “we regret to inform parents Guardians, SOBANS, the Educational Community and well wishers of an unfortunate fire incident in one of our dormitories (St Martins) at about 9:30am today 6th January 2021. No human casualty was registered since all the students and teachers were in the classroom. However, some material damages were recorded.” Part of the release reads.

Fr Armstrong furthered that the situation has been put under control “as of now, everything is under control and the students of that dormitory have been relocated to other dormitories. So we call on parents to remain calm”.

The real cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However the principal says they suspect it erupted from an electrical fault “…based on our preliminary assessment, we suspect it might have been caused by an electrical fault”.
St Joseph College Sasse is a boarding institution in the South West Region of the Republic of Cameroon.
