Twenty nine persons are currently receiving treatment after surviving from a car crash that occured along the road from Santcho to Dschang, Menoua Sub-division, West Region of the Republic of Cameroon.

The incident that occurred this Wednesday is as a result of a collision between a 70 seater bus from Douala and a gasoline truck that was coming from Bafoussam. The crash caused fire to engulf the two cars.

While addressing the masses, the Governor of the West Region, Awah Fonka Augustine said “the dead are not identified, they are all burned.”
He further disclosed that the gasoline truck had a brake failure and this made the vehicle to collide with the 70 seater bus. The passenger bus that got involved in the crash belonged to Mendoua Voyages.
Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, Ngalle Bibehe Jean Ernest Massena said the accident occurred at 3:30am. He added that the survivors of the accident are receiving treatment in some hospitals in Dschang and Bafoussam.
This is the second fatal accident recorded on Cameroonian soil since December 2020. On Saturday breaking Sunday, December 27, 2020, barely two days after the celebration of Christmas, over 35 persons lost their lives as a result of a road accident near Ndikinimeki, on national road number 4.
The official statistic from Cameroon government reveals that Cameroon records an estimate of 16,583 road accidents each year, killing over 1,000 people.
