Hon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has been reelected Speaker of the National Assembly.
His reelection was done today during a parliamentary session that held in Yaounde. In total, 162 Members of Parliament, MPs voted. Cavaye got 147 votes while there were 15 null ballots.
Shortly after he was voted, he pledged his commitment to other members of the assembly.
The Right Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril
was born on 1st January 1940 at Mada Tokombéré District, Mayo-Sava Division in the Far North Region of Cameroon where he is a Traditional Ruler (Lamido of Mada).
He is a Senior Administration Secretary and a member of the Political Bureau of the ruling party, Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM.
Joining the National Assembly, he was elected and re-elected MP, and subsequently elected to the Bureau as Questor, then Vice-President and later President.
Hon Cavaye has been speaker of National Assembly since 1992.
