Cameroon; NW Governor Bans Transportation of Pigs

The governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique has banned the transportation of pigs and pig’s products in Mezam and Momo Division.

This order is contained in a press release signed by the administrator this July 8. According to the release, the current African Swine fever accounts for this decision.

The release further states that sanctions will be meted on defaulters of this order.

“Anybody who shall contravene this order shall be sanctioned according to the laws and regulations in force”.

There has been repeated news on the prevalence of swine fever and it has become a cause for concern this as some traders in pork buy even dead pigs and resell to customers.

To this effect, consumers of pork and it’s related products have been advised to be at alert during this period.
