PENASED Urges Cameroonians to Collectively Fight Climate Change

Following the COP26, 2021 United Nations climate change conference that is ongoing, PENASED is taking steps at its level to meet these goals of the international community and invites everyone to join the cause because real change, real resilience to climate change begins with our behavioral changes towards our living environment.

To this effect, it is important to reduce wood and heating gas consumption, driving fewer miles, adopting zero waste, buying less stuff and keeping it for a long time as PENASED’s Program Assistant for Green Economy, Angoula Luc explained.

He added that, it is also important to switch to renewable energy, recycle our waste, promote sustainable agriculture, ensure sustainable management of water resources.

“Building resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable industrialization, make cities and human settlements resilient and sustainable is also very important if we want to fight climate change”. He told this reporter.

According to Luc, managing our oceans and forests are imperative in the fight against climate change.

“To conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development, preserve and restore terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss is also a way to fight our changing climate”.

The conference that started on October 31 is expected to end on November 12. Discussions include the largest sustainability challenges faced around the globe, sessions on how to truly accelerate the global green economy amongst other very salient issues.
