Cameroon; Citizens Encouraged to get Vaccinated as 5th Round of Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign Rounds Off

The fifth round of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign will be rounding off this November 27. The Campaign which started on November 18, has recorded more cases of vaccinated persons. However, as the campaign rounds off, more persons have been encouraged to go in for the vaccine.

The Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie in a tweet by MINSANTE stated he has taken a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, serving as an encouragement to others.

Viral vector COVID-19 vaccines are given in a muscle in the upper arm. The vector virus in the vaccine is not the virus that causes COVID-19, but a different, harmless virus. It enters the muscle cells and uses the cells’ machinery to produce a harmless piece of what is called a spike protein. When a jab of the vaccine is taken, our bodies are trained to develop defenses to the disease without having to get sick.

COVID-19 vaccines can greatly reduce your chance of getting seriously ill, even if you get COVID-19. Completing the vaccine series reduces your chances of hospitalization and lowers your risk of dying from COVID-19.

Also, the vaccines are highly effective at preventing COVID-19. As such, it adds the number of people in the community who are protected from getting COVID-19 making it harder for the disease to spread

With a study of your health history, physicians would intervene proportionately if vaccination is not necessary. To this effect, it is important to visit recognised COVID-19 vaccination Centres for your vaccine.
