At least thirty-two persons have been abducted at a train station in Nigeria by gunmen carrying AK-47 rifles. These persons were kidnapped Sunday January 8, while they were waiting to board a train from Igueben to Warri in neighbouring Delta state.
According to eyewitness accounts, some of the people who escaped from the attackers sustained bullet wounds.
This act comes at a time when the country is preparing for their general elections which is expected to hold next month.
Nigeria’s spokesperson Chris Osa Nehikhare in a statement said the train station has been closed as security forces and local hunters have gone in search of the captives.
This comes after the rail service between Abuja and the Northern city of Kaduna resumed operations after being closed for nine months.
