The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh has in a release condemned the killing and Kidnapping of women in Kedjom-Keku village, Big Babanki in Tubah Sub-Division while stating that investigations are underway to track down pepertrators.
According to the SDO’s release, over elderly women were tortured and kidnapped by heavily armed ‘terorists’ after a peaceful protest march organised by this group of women commonly called “Takumbengs”.
Simon while condemning the act of Gender Based Violece, GBV and barbarism urged the population to remain calm as defense and security forces work towards re-establishing peace and tranquility in that village.

“The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam once more fevently calls on the population to continously collaborate with the administrative authorities, Defense and Security Forces to denounce and fish-out these bands of outlaw from our Communities.” The last part of the release reads.
The North West region is said to have recorded several deaths and Kidnappings since May 20th. A teacher of Longla Comprehensive College by name Anyam Pius, was shot dead on May 21, 2023 in Bamenda meanwhile gunmen in Ngoketunjia Division shot and killed a bike rider by name Mboli Edward. Also, in Ngie Subdivision, Momo Division, seperatist fighters kidnapped six persons including the CPDM Section President for Momo West and the Principals of GHS Andek-Ngie and GTHS Tezeh-Ngie.
